How to search for an idea on the front end

Edited

Who can search for an idea on the front end?

All registered users can search for ideas in any Universe that they have access to and that has the feature enabled.

Where can I find ideas?

You can find ideas on a Universe’s “Ideas” page.

To find the “Ideas” page, select or hover over a Universe in the Side Navigation. Then, select “Ideas” from the dropdown that appears.

If you’re already on a Universe page, you can also find “Ideas” on the horizontal page menu.

How do I search for an idea on the front end?

Click “Browse All Ideas” on the right-hand side of the “Ideas” homepage. This will take you to the “Browse Ideas” page.

The top of the “Ideas” homepage is shown above. The “Browse All Ideas” button is highlighted in purple.

The “Browse Ideas” page has a list of filters on the left and displays the ideas that match any active filters on the right. Click on a filter to narrow down the ideas that are displayed.

There are two “Date” filters:

  • “This Month” shows ideas posted in the same calendar month.

  • “Recently” shows ideas posted in the past 30 days.

The “Date” filter options on the “Browse Ideas” page are highlighted in purple above.

“Reviewed by Devs” is above the “Date” filters. Click “Reviewed” to see only ideas that have been reviewed.

All Universes also allow you to filter by the following types:

  •  “My Ideas” will show you only ideas that you have created.

  • “My Followed Ideas” will show you only ideas that you have previously followed.

  • “Unread” will show you any ideas that you haven’t yet viewed.

  • “Upvoted” will show you ideas that have been upvoted by members.

The “Reviewed” filter is highlighted in purple above. The “Type” filters are highlighted in yellow.

You can also filter by review status and category. Select different statuses to see ideas in different phases of the development process, such as “Wishlisted” or “Greenlit.”

Select different categories to help you narrow down ideas about the topics that most interest you, such as “Narrative” or “Modding.” Studios can customize the categories for each Universe.

The “Status” filters are highlighted in purple above.
The “Categories” filters are highlighted in yellow.

Filters stack. As you add filters, the number on a filter–which shows the total number of matching ideas–will update. If you select filters from the same group, the page will display ideas that match any one of the filters selected in that group. If you select filters from different groups, the page will display only ideas that match selected filters across groups.

You can sort displayed ideas by using the “Sort” button in the top right-hand side. The sort button looks like a down arrow and a series of lines. Clicking this button will open a dropdown with several options to help you order ideas by popularity (determined by G2G points), engagement (comments or follows), and recency.

The “Sort” button is outlined in yellow above.

How do I use the search bar to find an idea?

You can use the search bar in the navigation bar to search idea titles by keyword.

The search bar is highlighted above in purple.

Type a keyword or phrase into the search bar and hit “Enter.” A results page will load that shows all posts that match your keyword(s).

Narrow down the results using the filters on the left-hand side.

To find ideas, look for the filters on the left-hand side. Click “Ideas” under “Type” to only display ideas.

The screenshot above shows the results for a keyword search using the navigation bar search bar.

Can I find ideas on my profile?

You can find the ideas that you created or followed on your “Profile” page. Access your profile through the user menu.

To find your ideas, choose “Contents” from the horizontal menu. Then, click “Ideas” in the submenu.

This screenshot shows “Contents” selected and its submenu below.

To find ideas you’ve followed, choose “Followed” from the horizontal menu. Then, click “Ideas” in the submenu.
