How to search for news in back office ?
Who can search for news in the back office?
Devs and Admins can search for news articles in the back office.
Where do I search for news in the back office?
You can find the “News” feature in a Universe’s dropdown in the back office.
At the bottom of the page header, below the title “News,” there are two tabs: “Dashboard” and “All News.”
Click on the “All News” tab to search for news articles.
How do I search for a news article by keyword?
You can always search for a news article by scrolling through the list under the “All News” tab, but once you have a significant backlog, that will be time-consuming.
In that case, it might be easier to search by title keyword.
Just below the tabs is a box labeled “Filters.”
This screenshot shows the “Filters” box.
On the left is a “Title” text field. Type in your keyword and then hit “Enter” on your keyboard. The news list will be filtered to only include articles with titles that contain the keyword.
Note: Search keywords are not case-sensitive.
You can only search one keyword or phrase at a time. Titles will only be filtered for consecutive terms. So, you could search “fairyland” to find all article titles including the word “fairyland,” or search “big bang” to find all article titles including the phrase “big bang,” but “big fairyland” will not return any of the previous results.
A user has searched “big fairyland,” indicated by the active filters highlighted above in blue.
No results are listed.
A user has searched “big bang” on the same news list.
Results are found. Even though the results also include the word “fairyland,” “big” and “fairyland” are separated by other words, while “big bang” is a direct phrase.
How do I filter the news list?
You can also use the “Filters” box above the news list to narrow down which articles are displayed in the list.
Publication Date
To the right of the “Title” search bar, you can filter by publication date.
Click the arrow to the right to select how you want to filter on the selected date:
“> After” will display all articles published on or after the selected date.
“< Before” will display all articles published before the selected date.
“= Equal” will display only articles published on the selected date.
The “Publication date” field with the date picker displayed is shown here.
The arrow to select how the search filters on that date is highlighted in blue.
Then, click on the date field. A date picker will dropdown. Select the desired date.
You can use “> After” and “< Before” together to filter by a range of dates. Repeat the process above twice, first with selecting “>After” and then selecting “<Before.” The two options will stack.
The active filters are highlighted above in blue. Two “Publication date” filters have been used to search a range of dates.
Highlight and Cross-Universe
To the right of the “Publication Date” field are two boolean dropdowns: “Highlight” and “Cross Universe.” These refer to the toggles under “Visibility settings” when a news article is created.
You can find the articles highlighted on the front end by selecting “Is Highlighted” from the “Highlight” dropdown. “Is not Highlighted” will display articles that are not highlighted on the front end.
Find articles visible across all of a Studio’s Universes by selecting “Is Cross Universe” from the “Cross Universe” dropdown. If you only want to see articles unique to this universe, choose “Is not Cross Universe.
More Filters
On the rightmost side of the “Filters” box is a “More Filters” button. Click this button to additionally filter by the number of comments, the number of views, or the date the article was created.
Enter a number in the “Comments count” field or the “Views count” field, depending on which you want to filter by. Then, select the arrow to the right of the field. Choose whether you want to filter by the number of comments or number of views that are “> Superior” (greater than); “< Inferior” (less than); or “= Equal” to the number you entered into the field.
The “More filters” button is highlighted here in blue. The additional filters are displayed.
You can also filter by “Created by” date. This works the same as filtering by publication date (described above), but filters by when the article was first added to the list, rather than the date it went up on the front end. Unlike filtering by publication date, filtering by the created by date will include drafts.
How do I sort the news list?
You can sort the list under the “All News” tab by any column. The list can be sorted whether or not it has been narrowed down using filters.
At the top of the news list are column headers. Click to sort on that attribute.
To sort by a column, click on the column name in the table. You can perform the following sorts:
Title: Click on “Title” to sort titles alphabetically from A - Z. Click a second time to sort from Z - A.
Tags: Click on “Tags” to sort alphabetically A - Z by an article’s first tag. Click again to sort from Z - A. An article with no tags will be listed before A.
Views: Click “Views” to sort by the number of views in descending order. Click “Views” a second time to instead sort by number of views in ascending order.
Comments: Click “Comments” to sort by the number of comments left on an article. One click will sort in descending order; two clicks will sort in ascending order.
Author: Click on “Author” to sort the author names alphabetically from A - Z. Click a second time to sort Z - A.
Date: Click “Date” to sort by publication date. One click will sort with the articles published earlier towards the top. Click again to sort with the most recent article at the bottom. An unpublished article will be sorted as if it is the earliest published article.
Status: Click “Status” to sort by where the article is in the creation process. Click once to sort with drafted articles towards the top. These are followed by “Scheduled” articles, then published articles. Click again to reverse the order.
