Who can search for questions on the “Help” page?

All registered users can search for questions posted to the “Help” page.

Where do I find the “Help” page?

You can find a Universe’s “Help” page through the front-end Side Navigation. If a Universe has the “Help” feature enabled, you will see “Help” in the Universe’s submenu. Click on “Help” to go to the “Help” page.

A Universe’s “Help” link in the Side Navigation is highlighted above in purple.

You can also reach the “Help” page by clicking on “Help” in a Universe’s page menu.

How do I search for a question?

There are two options to search for questions from the “Help” page. The first option is to use the search bar found about halfway down the page on the right. Enter a keyword or phrase into the search bar and click the “Search” button. This will take you to a page of search results including that keyword or phrase. It will be filtered to only include questions.

The “Help” page has a search bar on the right. It is highlighted above in purple. Use this search bar to perform a keyword search on all questions. The “Browse All Questions” button highlighted in yellow takes users to a page where questions can be filtered.

Below the search bar is a collection of tags. Clicking on a tag will take you to the “Browse All Questions” page filtered to only show questions with that tag.

The second option is to use the filters available on the “Browse All Questions” page. To filter questions, click the button near the middle of the page that is labeled “Browse All Questions.”

On the “Browse All Questions” page, you will see a collection of recent questions. There is also a search bar and several buttons on the left. These options can help you narrow down the question you are looking for.

Using the options on the left, you can search by tags, filter by question type, and filter by question status.

Search options are on the left-hand side of the “Browse All Questions” page. In the example above, the tools to search on tags are highlighted in purple; available “Type” filters are in yellow; and available “Status” filters are in green.

Search by Tags

At the top on the left-hand side is a small search bar. There is a collection of tags underneath. To search by tags, start by entering a tag name into the search bar. Matching tags will drop down beneath the search bar. Click on the tag you’re looking for.

The questions on the right will be filtered to only display questions with that tag.

You can also click on one of the tags displayed beneath the search bar to only display questions with that tag.

When you are filtering for a specific tag, it will be filled in as shown above. The example is highlighted in yellow.

Search by Type

The “Type” section is in the middle of the options on the left-hand side of the page. It has three buttons:

  • Mine filters for questions you submitted.

  • Followed filters for questions you have followed.

  • Unread filters for questions you haven’t yet read.

Click on one of these buttons to apply that filter. When you apply a filter, the questions on the right will narrow down to only show questions that match that type.

Search by Status

The “Status” section is at the bottom of the search options on the left. All users will see the following three buttons:

  • Unanswered filters for questions that have not received any responses.

  • Unresolved filters for questions that have received responses, but none of those responses have yet been selected as a “Best Answer.”

  • Resolved filters for questions that have had a response selected as the “Best Answer.”

Users with a Restriction Level of Dev or Admin will also see the following:

  • Deleted filters for questions that have been deleted and are no longer available for most users.

  • Duplicate filters for questions that are duplicates of a previous question.

  • Moderated filters for questions that have been flagged by moderators and are no longer available for most users.

To apply a filter, click on one of the available buttons. The questions on the right-hand side will narrow down to only include questions with the selected status.

Sorting Questions

You can also sort questions to help you quickly find what you’re looking for. To sort, click on the “Sort” button on the right. It is to the left of the “Ask Your Question” button. The “Sort” button looks like a down arrow with four lines.

The “Sort” button is highlighted in yellow above. The sort options are highlighted in purple.

You can sort on five pieces of information:

  • Recent will display the newest questions first.

  • Last replied will display the questions that have most recently received a response first.

  • Most popular will display the questions with the highest to lowest number of G2G points received from users upvoting the question.

  • Most replied will display the questions with the largest number of responses to the questions with the fewest responses.

  • Most followed will display the questions with the highest number of follows first.

You can sort on all questions or on a subset of questions you’ve already narrowed down by tags, type, and/or status.

Can I search for questions in the navigation bar?

Yes! You can also search for questions by keyword using the search found in the navigation bar at the top of the page.

The search bar is shown here.

To search, enter a keyword or phrase into the search bar. You can find it to the right of the Studio logo in the top left.

Then hit the “Enter” key on your keyboard. This searches the entire Studio for the keywords you entered.

To only see questions, look for the filters on the left of the search results page. Find the section labeled “Type,” then click “Questions.”

The search results will now only show questions across the Studio that match your keywords. If you then want to only see questions from a specific Universe, use the filters on the left under “Universe.”

An example of a search results page is shown above. The “Type” section, where results can be narrowed down to only include questions, is highlighted in purple.
