All registered users can create a question.
Where can I create a question?
You can create a question on a Universe’s “Help” page.
You can find a Universe’s “Help” page through the front-end Side Navigation. If a Universe has the “Help” feature enabled, you will see “Help” in the Universe’s submenu. Click on “Help” to go to the “Help” page.
A Universe’s “Help” link in the Side Navigation is highlighted above in purple.
You can also reach the “Help” page by clicking on “Help” in a Universe’s page menu.
On the “Help” page, you will see the option to “Browse All Questions” or to “Ask Your Question.” Click “Ask Your Question” to go to the “Create Question” page.
The “Ask Your Question” button as seen on the “Help” page is shown here highlighted in yellow.
You can also reach the “Create Question” page if you first click “Browse All Questions.” At the top of the list of questions, there will be an “Ask Your Question” button on the right. Click to open the “Create Question” page.
The “Ask Your Question” button as seen on the “Browse All Questions” page is shown here highlighted in yellow.
How do I create a question?
On the “Create Question” page, you will see three fields: “Your title,” “Enter Tags Here,” and a text editor.
Enter a title for your question in the “Your title” field at the top of the form.
The “Create Question” page is shown above. The “Your title” field is highlighted in yellow. The “Enter Tags Here” field is highlighted in purple. The text editor is highlighted in green.
The title will stand out when users are browsing questions, so it is a good idea to use a short version of your question as the title. You can always explain in more depth in the text editor.
Next, add tags. Adding tags will help people find your question. You can use existing tags or enter a new tag.
To add a tag, type in the second field from the top labeled “Enter Tags Here.”
If you type in an existing tag, a dropdown with that tag will appear. Click to add the tag.
In the example above, an existing tag has been entered into the “Enter Tags Here” field.
If you are adding a new tag, make sure to add a comma (,) after you finish typing to create the tag.
Note: Avoid variations of the same when creating a tag. Adding a unique tag when an existing one fits makes it harder for users to find your question!
Using the text editor is optional. If your question is clearly expressed in the title and does not need any additional explanation, you do not need to add anything to the body of the question. Add text if you have a longer question, need to expand, or just want to reiterate what you are asking.
Once you’ve added a title, tags, and further description in the text editor if needed, you can share your question for other users to respond to. Just click the “Save” button below the text editor on the right!
The “Create Question” page with a completed form is shown above. The “Save” button is shown highlighted in yellow.
After you click “Save,” your question will be available on the “Help” page and other users will be able to respond. Your question will appear on the “Browse All Questions” page in a box that includes three sections of information.
The top of the question summary shows the question’s status and your username. The middle section shows the tags, the title, and part of the question body. The bottom section includes the number of G2G points awarded through upvotes, the number of followers the question has, and the number of responses.
Note: When you submit a question, your G2G point total is automatically added to the question’s total.
