How to add tags to your news article ?

Edited

Why should I use tags on news articles?

Tags make it easier to find and organize news articles. You can filter by tags in both the front end and the back office.

Grouping articles by topic also makes it easier for your community to find updates and articles that interest them.

Who can add and manage “News” tags?

Devs and Admins can add and manage tags.

Where do I add tags to a news article?

You can add tags to a news article from the page where you create or edit an article. To find an article’s edit page, navigate to the “News” feature in the back office.

If you are creating a new article, click on the “Add News” button in the top-right.

If you are editing an existing article, click on the “All News” tab. Then select an article from the list by clicking on a row. You can filter the list to help you find a specific article.

How do I add tags to a news article?

Once on an article’s edit page, you will see a box on the right-hand side with various settings. Scroll down until you see your avatar. Below that, you will see a text field that reads “Tags (optional).”

Begin typing a tag in this field. If that keyword is already used in a tag, it will appear in a dropdown. You can click the tag in the dropdown to add it to the article’s metadata.

Typing into the “Tags (optional)” field will show a dropdown of tags, as shown here.

If the tag does not already exist, finish typing the keyword. Then add a semicolon (;). The tag will be created and added to the article’s metadata.

Make sure to remember the semicolon (;)! Without a semicolon, the tag will not be added and if you try to add a second tag, they will run together.

Where can I manage “News” tags?

You can manage tags from the “All Tags” page. On the back office “News” page, click the “Manage Tags” button on the right-hand side. It is located next to the “Add News” button used to create a new article.

You can also find the “All Tags” page by scrolling down on the “News” dashboard. One of the blocks is labeled “Latest Used Tags.” At the bottom of the list is another button labeled “Manage.” Click the “Manage” button to access the “All Tags” page.

Note: Click on an individual tag in the “Latest Used Tags” block to go directly to its “Edit Tag” side panel.

There is another “Manage” button in the “Latest Used Tags” block. It is highlighted above in purple. Clicking on a tag here will also bring up the “Edit Tag” side panel.

On the “Manage Tags” page, you will see a list of all tags used on news articles.
