What is moderation at G2G?

Edited

Moderation is a way to build a welcoming community and promote constructive engagement. At G2G, we strive to provide tools that help you manage a healthy, thriving community and keep it that way. G2G’s moderation tools are flexible, allowing you to adapt them to the conduct guidelines that best suit your community. You can customize ban periods, report types, and infractions. With the help of moderators, you can make sure your conduct guidelines are upheld by all community members.

Moderation at G2G is both proactive and reactive. The rate-limiter and anti-spam tools filter user content before it is posted on the site. The rate limiter allows you to set a time delay between users making the same type of post. The anti-spam service lets you customize a word list of weighted terms. If a post exceeds the spam threshold, the post will not be published.

Reactive tools can be found in the “Moderation” side panel. Users with the necessary Restriction Level can use the side panel to file an infraction report, ban, or shadowban a user. All users can report a post for review or block another user.

You can deputize some users as Moderators to help monitor new content and flag any concerns through the back office. Moderators have access to the moderation side panel and to all content that is not restricted to Devs and Admins only. They can support your community managers by:

  • Monitoring discussions and making sure all user interactions abide by your community code of conduct.

  • Removing bot spam.

  • Responding to reports from community members and taking appropriate action.

  • Requesting bans or shadowbans for members who repeatedly violate the community guidelines.

Moderation at G2G aims to give you the tools you need to maintain a flourishing community you can be inspired by!
