What is a post?
A post is what an individual user adds to a discussion on the forums. Posts are the building blocks that make up threads. Community members can use posts to share all kinds of content, from opinions to screenshots to polls. Every user in good standing can add a post to an unlocked thread in a Public forum.
How do I read a post?
In a thread, the previous post will be above a post and the next post will be below it. Each individual post is separated by a horizontal line. On the left of a post, you will find information about the poster. This includes the poster’s avatar, their screen name, title, G2G points, and badges.

The content is in the middle of the post. This might be text, images, video, links, and/or a poll. Above the content, you can see when it was posted.

Each post has a light grey “Actions” toolbar on the right-hand side. The exact icons you see will depend on your Restriction Level and whether you are the post’s author.

What post interactions are available?
The Admin view of a post’s “Actions” toolbar. The button to show all actions is highlighted in dark blue.
The “Actions” toolbar includes all the ways you can interact with an individual post. You will always see the option to link, quote, or report a post.
If the rightmost icon on the toolbar is a hamburger button, the “Actions” toolbar can be expanded. Click that button to show additional options.
All the actions that can be accessed via the toolbar are:
Link: The “Link” button is a chain icon. Clicking on this button copies a URL that points directly to the post.
Quote: The “Quote” button is an arrow with a quotation mark. Use the “Quote” button to quote this post in a new post.
Report: The “Report” button is a flag icon. You can click this button to report a concern about the post’s content.
Moderate: The “Moderate” button is a red scales icon. Users with a Restriction Level of Moderator or higher can click this button to open the “Moderation” panel. This panel is where a moderator can add an infraction report and ban, shadowban, or monitor the post’s author.
Edit: The “Edit” button is a square icon with a diagonal line through it. If you’re the thread’s original poster or have a Restriction Level of Moderator or above, clicking this button will bring up a text editor block. This text editor block allows a user to update or change the content of the post.
Delete: The “Delete” button is a trash can icon. The original poster or users with a Restriction Level of Moderator or higher can delete a post.
Add Moderation Message: The “Moderation Message” button is an alert triangle. Users with a Restriction Level of Moderator or higher can click this button to add a message for other moderators.
Annotate: The “Annotate” button is a speech bubble icon with a small exclamation point. Users with a Restriction Level of Moderator or above can annotate a post.
Of course, the core way to interact with a post is to reply to the post!
